BOSS Ranch started raising Polled Hereford cattle in the 1960's in the San Angelo, Texas area. The Braford program was started in the early 1980's and was moved to the mountains of West Texas in 1988. BOSS Ranch has continuously raised Polled Hereford and Braford cattle. We offer cattle to the commercial cattleman that will work under the toughest of conditions. The cattle are a combination of top genetics and many years of selection. We have introduced genetics from some of the top Brahman and Hereford herds. Our Polled Hereford Cow herd is strongly influenced by the Remitall program. In August 2008 we selected several top females in the Remitall Dispersal to rebuild or Polled Hereford herd. Most of the females purchased were young and easily made the transition from Canada to West Texas. We have produced both Polled Herefords and F-1 Brafords with these females. Our Braford cow herd was sold out completely in May 2011 after we lost grazing on about half of our ranch due to fire. The cows were the product of 30 years of selection and hard work. We have kept a small group of Braford heifers to rebuild with that represent the best genetics and performance from our Braford cow herd. December 3, 2011 - 10:00am - San Saba, Tx. 2011 has been a tough year for many parts of Texas, and BOSS Ranch has not been excluded from the fires or dry conditions. In May we lost about half of the grazing on the ranch to fire, and the dry conditions have left the rest of the ranch in need of some rest. On December 3, 2011 our Polled Hereford cow herd and replacement Polled Hereford and Braford females will be sold through Jordan Cattle Auction in San Saba, Texas.
